About Music Together® Babies Classes
The one-semester Music Together® Babies Class is designed specifically for families with infants under eight months old. You may be wondering what your newborn can gain from a music class and at what age they can start benefiting. The answer? It's never too early to begin making music! From birth, your little one is a natural music-maker, ready to begin their musical journey.
You might have noticed how your baby responds to songs in the car or when you sing to calm them—babies are inherently musical. And don’t worry, you don’t have to be an expert singer or dancer to foster their love of music.
As always, you are your child's first and most important teacher. In this class, your Music Together instructor will guide you on how to support your baby’s musical development through simple, enjoyable activities. You’ll discover fun, musical ways to bond with your little one while connecting with other new parents in the class.
My baby is under 9 months. Should I take this class or a mixed-age class?
This class is structured similarly to a mixed-age class, where you'll experience musical bonding and lay the foundation for a lifelong love of music. In both classes, your teacher will guide you through various activities, offering fun and creative ways for you to engage musically with your baby. The key difference is in the parent education. Since the infants in the Babies Class are typically non-mobile, the atmosphere is calmer, allowing the teacher more opportunities to explain the reasoning behind the activities and highlight emerging musical behaviours.
What age are the infants in a Babies Class?
Infants in our classes range from a few weeks to eight months on the first day, with most typically being between 2 and 7 months. At the start of the semester, most babies are not yet mobile. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
